Enlightening 2-Minute Management Course

Enlightening 2-Minute Management Course
Lesson One
An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing.
A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?"
The eagle answered: "Sure, why not."
So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Management Lesson One - To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Lesson Two
A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy."
"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied he bull. "They're packed with nutrients."
The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.
Finally after a fourth night, he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the
turkey out of the tree.

Management Lesson Two - Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Lesson Three
A little bird was flying south for the winter.
It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out!
He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.
Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Management Lesson Three -
(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

This ends your two minute management course.

Can't Sleep

Damn.. I can't fall asleep.

But heck..

Good night

Project Superstar Wei Lian , Junyang and Victoria School students

I shall not touch on the details. It has generated sufficient news. Zao Bao, Wan Bao, Strait's Times, New Paper, Today and what else... not forgetting the various online forums. Whatever it is, one can argue until the cows come home but the fact remains Wei Lian got it and he is indeed visually handicapped.

Enough debates of symphaty votes. It is indeed an undeinable fact that some voters would have adopted such a mentality and hence casted votes for him.

However, I doubt many will disagree with me that they have been moved by the sheer grit and determination of this young chap. He believed in his dreams and fought hard for he believed in himself. And he believed in the confidence that his family , his friends and his supporters had in him. Well, he didn't dissapoint and emerged the victor. A victor not only in terms of standings but also in terms of the human spirit. He dared to dream ...he overcame the odds... because he believed.

*************************************

Junyang did not garner sufficient votes. But he is defintely not a loser. Likewise, he believed in himself and he dared to dream. The courage and composure that he exhibited is defintely worthy of our admiration.

Hopefully this will not be a setback for him and he will come out a stronger person. This is life.. full of ups and downs. Having the ability to dream is defintely something we posses; however how many of us really dare to dream of that something that we so badly desire? Will it remain just a dream or will be be materialised?

**************************************

I may not agree with the views of the Victorian boys. In fact a co-ed school is actually a more holistic approach to education. This world isn't single-sex. You can learn that v=u +at from any institution, single sex or otherwise. However you can't learn how to interact with someone of the opposite gender purely from the books. A school environment whereby students spend the majority of their time as compared to other settings is, in my opinion, the best way to educate.

Traditions are, on one hand good to withold, however, if necessary, they have to be adjusted to suit the present day conditions. Women used to bind their feets and men wore pigtails.

Traditions.

But I credit them for their strong belief . They did not sit down and grumble, something that Singaporeans are best at.

************************************

The list goes on and on. However , if because one's belief that others have to suffer, well that's extreme views. I'm sorry and I can't condone. Don't try and tell me that bombing oneself (and in doing so kill many more )is a way of expressing one's believes. It doesn't work that way.

Anyway, we're lucky to be in a position to be able to dream and to fight for our dreams. It's just that many are not willing to do so , for a wide specturm of reasons.

I'm fortunate to be in a position that I can afford to do so. And I believe I will .

What about you? ( Chey.. so cliché hor)

Refreshed!

Haven't felt so for the last week or so.

Mom's been nagging me to shift my bed. Well, she's commented that the positioning of the bed isn't condusive for sleeping. And there she goes regarding the how the flow of qi will influence the quality of sleep and that the previous positon is deterimental.

Haven't been feeling well the week before. Felt that perhaps I should just turn the bed around and put an end to the nagging. And it wasn't that heavy a bed and yes I did.

After that I slump onto it and slept for the next hour or two.

It was totally refreshing. Was mum's theory correct and I had been wrong not to heed her advice? After all I felt real good after the sleep. It was defintely a quality rest.

Then again. I was tired after a day's work and have been watching Chelsea play Arsenal the night before.

I prefer the latter explaintation. I was plain tired.

NSmen to serve only 10 years ICT

NSmen to serve only 10 years ICT

From 1st April next year, operationally ready national servicemen will need to serve only 10 years of in-camp training, instead of the current 13 years.

NS men who have already started their in-camp training will have their term shortened to 10 years as well.

This is because the intake of full-time NS men is projected to surge over the next decade.

Also, the Singapore Armed Forces will be making greater use of technology to enhance their fighting power.

Under this new system, commanders will have more flexibility to adjust the training according to performance standards.

However, this does not affect the NS men's liability.

Under the Enlistment Act, reservists are still liable for NS call-ups until they reach the age of 40.

For officers, it's up to 50 years old.

This development follows a move by MINDEF last year to reduce full-time national service from 2-and-a-half years to 2 years.

National Day

Yesterday was National Day. I shall not blog about the parades, the carnival and the other stuff because everyone is blogging about it. You can find it in the papers too.

How many of you actually received the sms notifying you of the 40% discount in petrol prices during 4pm-8pm ? Several of my friends did and they informed me about it. I'm sure it will amount to a lot of savings.

I didn't have the chance to queue up at the petrol station. I'm glad I didn't.

Text message claiming 40% petrol discount is a hoax

SINGAPORE : A text message that has been circulating claiming that all petrol stations would offer a 40 percent discount on Tuesday is a hoax.

But that hasn't stopped queues from forming at petrol station in several parts of the island from about 4pm.

The SMS claimed that all petrol stations would be giving a 40 percent discount off petrol prices between 4pm and 8pm as part of Singapore's National Day celebrations.

Channel NewsAsia contacted petrol stations like Shell, which said this was not true, and that the traffic congestion was causing safety problems.
