With this, you can be sure that no one steals your beloved pint of ice cream?

However, the downside to this , just like forgetting your ATM PIN , you can forget about your ice cream should you lose the number combination.

Oktoberfest is here!

Wonderful... Cheers!

I love this... the wonderful beer festival is here! I got this set from NTUC. 4 bottles of Erdinger and a 0.5 ml beer glass. This is a must have for beer lovers!

Somehow, I prefer German Beer.

Anyway.. Cheers!

My favourite series!!

My favourite series!!
Originally uploaded by malcolmloke.
Was at MPH Novena Square yesterday. I must say it's a pretty nice feeling to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon, browsing through the various kinds of books available.

These books were my first Enid Blyton series. I still remember then that reading Enid Blyton was kind of a "promotion", a progression many of my classmates underwent. It signifies that we were no longer small kids that had "Read it yourself" series.

And yeah.. these 3 books were part of a series. I looked at the price tag. Things haven't changed much I suppose. Back in the 80's, when a book which cost $4, many little kids ( me included) could not afford it.

My teachers encouraged me to visit the library, where one could borrow books for free. However, it seems to be that public libraries disliked Enid Blyton series. Hence, I have no choice but to buy.

I remember saving up for these books. I had 50 cents per day for pocket money. I will try to save $1 within a week, and within a month, I would have enough to buy an Enid Blyton book.

And I would finish reading the book within a week. So what do I do for the next 3 weeks? Well.. apart from saving up for the next book, I re-read the books on a slower pace.

My aim was to collect every single book.

It didn't materialise. Thank God... let's do some simple Maths... a book cost $4, and if I remember there are 50 books in all. That would be a cool $200.

Anyway.. things are pretty much the same nowadays.. in terms of prices. I'm quite surprised that each book only cost $5 and if you get 3, you only pay $12, i.e. $4 a book?

Why you Neber Greet ME ?

I still remember this infamous question. Make that a sarcastic one.

For those that have served/still serving in the military or any uniformed organisation, I don't think you will find this unfamiliar. I myself have been a victim of this. And very often, there's only one outcome.

Go on your fours and seek for permission to carry on.

Was at my area's ATC last weekend. For the uninitiated, it means " Adventure Training Camp". Still don't understand? Go grab someone that has been through NPCC and force him to explain to you.

Anway, back to the ATC. Yes.. I know, the week's almost over and only am I blogging on this, but better late than never ? Got to admit that my area has capable instructors and hence, you can trust them to run the show. While some of them are complaining or grumbling," you see the officers... so do nothing one...".

To me this is a good sign. Cos usually if the officers actually have to do something, means something is wrong.. very wrong. Just like what happened towards the end of the camp, whereby a cadet had his head cut by a kayak paddle. Quite a deep gash and has to be evacuated to the mainland. Oh yes... did I mention, the camp's on Pulau Ubin. Don't know where Ubin is? Check a map. =p

I was with 2 officers, let's just call them teacher A and teacher B.

Teacher A was, initially quite uncomfortable with me around. Well, you see, I'm not an instructor, just some extra officer around. She was hesistant to speak to me. However, after learning that I've graduated from NUS and have been working for more than a year, her attitude changed. I was perceived as a colleague, not some small kid. It didn't matter that I am not an employee of MOE.

Teacher A: You see that CI over there, whole day show me that black face, see me never greet. Even when she was a student, in school also like that..... very rude!!

Teacher B is a friend of mine. When he learnt of this incident, his first remarks were, " What is your opinion of this? I never believe in asking someone to greet me."

Well.. I never believe in such a thing too. But well, if the kids aren't doing , then who is to be blamed?

Restart

Sometimes hor.. the best command/input to your computer is actually to restart.

Depending on what system you are using , there are several ways that you can go about doing it.

When it hangs beyond imagination, restart.

When things get so messy, you restart.

School Holidays liao

You see school children in half-fuck uniforms or taking their own sweet time going to school. The time is 0930 hrs but you see them sauntering to the bus stops. Or your see them in slippers or sandals. In other words.. totally " no governement" aka bo cheng hu.

Some of the shops are closed with notification that they are away on a well deserved vacation.

This is not the time to go to Orchard, or to go chionging. Unless you like to squeeze.

Stay at home and save money and go after their holidays end.

President Nathan Swearing In Ceremony or Project Superstar?

President Swearing In
Originally uploaded by malcolmloke.
This is his second term in office. Some six years ago was it telecasted "live" on TV ? I don't think I can rememberl, afterall I was serving my nation. Depreived of television and many other " civilian privilleges", can't remember if CNA or any other TV stations had it broadcasted.

Unlike PM Lee's swearing in last year, only a selected few were invited to this. It was a much smaller scale as compared .

It was also one of the rare occasions that I saw the ADCs in ceremonial duties, actually half marching. Also caught a glimpse of the lady attendants.

Fittingly, this morning's ST ran an article on the men and women serving the president and first-lady.

It must be an extremely stressful job.

However, I believe this is just as stressful for the two contestants.

Yeap.. in their pursuit of their dreams, the final hurdle. However there can only be one winner in this competition. Yes Kelvin won it. But everyone that took part is a victor.

I'm not too sure which was program was the victor, the swearing in or Project Superstar? Somehow the show times overlapped. So if you want to watch both, how huh?

Simple... just like what someone told me. Switch channels lah. For a production that is so commercialised in nature, we can expect lotsa commercial breaks in between. And that the most exciting part will only be revealed after 2230hr. Relac lah..

Swtich over to CNA. The parade is formed up and awating the President's arrival. Ah.. Can admire at the various badges that the parade commander donned. You have the airbone wings and what else? the standard commando badges lah... Ok see sian liao.. and president haven't come... switch over to Channel U. Alamak.. commercial... so switch back.

Some televisons have the function of viewing several channels on seperate screens... just like your computer. However not all can do that. And hence, at least according to Kiat, the most feasible way is still the manually controlled way of switching all over lah. Also can loose come calories by indulging in some exercise... ya.. moving your fingers.

Of course.. do this at your peril.

Provided you don't anyone sitting next to you. Otherwise be prepared to hear some irritated comments .

According to Kiat... he heard some some

I won't feel sad should an oncoming vehicle brush by this car.The passageway has been reduced. Bo bian...you think what? narrow course ah? or some circuit driving ah?

Well done!
