Proclamations by Mr S R Nathan

No. 943 ?PROCLAMATION PROCLAMATION BY MR S R NATHAN, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE

Whereas by Article 65 (3) of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, it is provided that the President may at any time, by Proclamation in the Gazette, dissolve Parliament if he is advised by the Prime Minister to do so:

And whereas the President has been so advised by the Prime Minister to dissolve Parliament on the 20th day of April 2006:

Now, therefore, I, S R NATHAN, President of the Republic of Singapore, do hereby proclaim and make known that Parliament shall be dissolved on the 20th day of April 2006.

Another Proclamation

Whereas by Article 66 of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, it is provided that there shall be a general election at such time, within 3 months after every dissolution of Parliament, as the President shall, by Proclamation in the Gazette, appoint: Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by Article 66 of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, I, S R NATHAN, President of the Republic of Singapore, do hereby proclaim that the nomination day and polling day of the general election shall be within 3 months after the 20th day of April 2006, the date of dissolution of Parliament, at such time or times as may be determined in accordance with the Parliamentary Elections Act (Chapter 218).


Ok, the stage is set for Gen Elections!!
